L’étridiazole est modérément persistant dans les sols en condition aérobie (demi-vie de 34 jours). Il est faiblement persistant dans l’eau en condition aérobie (demi-vie de 2,775 jours). Ce fongicide s’hydrolyse lentement aux pH normalement rencontrés dans l’environnement (demi-vie de 82). L’étridiazole est stable à la photolyse dans l’eau. Sa photolyse au sol est plus importante (demi-vie de 14,3 jours). Le 3-dichlorométhyl-5-éthoxy-1,2,4-thiadiazole et le l’acide 5-éthoxy-1,2,4-thiadiazole-3-carboxylique sont les principaux produits de dégradation de l’étridiazole. La constante d'adsorption sur le carbone organique (Koc) de l’étridiazole est de 195 à 469 ml/g. Il est donc modérément mobile dans les sols et son potentiel de lessivage est modéré. Il se volatilise lentement à partir des sols humides et de l'eau selon la constante de la loi de Henry (H = 3,08 x 10-5 atm.m3/mol).
