Bilan de la toxicité aiguë

Le thifensulfuron-méthyl est faiblement toxique quelle que soit la voie d'exposition. Il est peu irritant pour la peau et les yeux et il n'est pas un sensibilisant cutané.

Types d'effets observés sur le système endocrinien	Une évaluation sur les effets possibles sur les systèmes endocriniens des mammifères n'a pas été réalisée. Cependant, aucune évidence de tels effets n'a été rapporté des études chroniques ou celles sur le développement et la reproduction. Aucune pathologie des glandes endocrines n'a été observée. Il n'y a aucune évidence que le thifensulfuron-méthyl puisse causer une perturbation de la fonction endocrinienne.

Types d'effets observés sur la reproduction	Dans une étude d'une durée de plusieurs générations sur la reproduction des rats, la progéniture n'a pas démontré de sensibilité acrrue comparativement aux parents. Aucun effet n'a été observé sur la fertilité, la lactation, la taille des portées ou la survie des petits. Le thifensulfuron-méthyl n'est pas un produit toxique pour la reproduction.

Types d'effets observés sur le développement	Dans des études sur le développement chez les rats et les lapins, les fœtus n'ont pas démontré de sensibilité accrue comparativement aux parents. Chez les chiens on a noté qu'une augmentation du poids du foie et du rapport thyroïde-parathyroïde sur le poids corporel.

Neurotoxicité	L'impact du thifensulfuron-méthyl sur le système nerveux n'a pas été spécifiquement évalué. Cependant, aucune évidence de neurotoxicité ou de neuropathologie n'a été notée dans les études aiguës, subchroniques, chroniques ou sur la reproduction et il n'y a pas d'inquiétude concernant la neurotoxicité du développement. Bilan des effets à long terme

Les études chroniques effectuées chez les rats et les souris ont démontré que le thifensulfuron-méthyl n'était pas cancérogène. Les seuls effets observés lors de ces études furent une baisse du poids corporel. Dans des études sur le développement chez les rats et les lapins, les fœtus n'ont pas démontré de sensibilité accrue comparativement aux parents. Le thifensulfuron-méthyl n'est pas un produit toxique pour la reproduction. Aucune évidence de neurotoxicité ou de neuropathologie n'a été notée dans les études aiguës, subchroniques, chroniques ou sur la reproduction et il n'y a pas d'inquiétude concernant la neurotoxicité du développement. Il n'y a aucune évidence que le thifensulfuron-méthyl puisse causer une perturbation de la fonction endocrinienne. Le thifensulfuron-méthyl n'est pas un génotoxique.
