Bilan de la toxicité aiguë

Le propamocarbe HCl est faiblement toxique quelle que soit la voie d'exposition. Il est légèrement irritant pour les yeux et il est un léger sensibilisant cutané.

Types d'effets observés sur le système endocrinien	Aucune étude spéciale n'a été menée pour évaluer le potentiel du propamocarbe HCl a induire des effets œstrogéniques ou autres effets endocriniens. Cependant les études effectuées pour évaluer les effets sur la reproduction, le développement ou les autres effets à long terme sont généralement suffisantes pour détecter les effets endocriniens et elles n'ont rien révélé. Le potentiel du propamocarbe HCl à produire des effets endocriniens est condidéré minime.

Types d'effets observés sur le développement	Dans une étude sur le développement des rats, une sensibilité quantitative accrue des fœtus a été observée comparativement aux mères sous la forme d'anomalies squelettiques mineures (retard dans l'ossification de certaines vertèbres sternèbres), de pertes après implantations et de baisse de poids corporel. Chez les lapins, il n'y avait pas de sensibilité particulière des petits.

Bilan des effets à long terme

Les études chroniques orales chez les animaux de laboratoire n'ont pas démontré de toxicité particulière si ce n'est d'une diminution de gain de poids, une consommation de nourriture réduite et des effets liés à une érosion de la muqueuse gastrique. Une étude sur le développement a démontré une sensibilité accrue des fœtus des rats sous la forme d'une retard sur le développement de l'ossification. Les études chroniques n'ont pas révélé d'effets cancérogènes. Le propamocarbe n'est pas génotoxique ni neurotoxique et il ne cause pas de perturbation de la fonction endocrinienne.
