La triforine a été testée pour son activité génotoxique dans une grande variété d'essais in vitro et in vivo, la plupart étant réalisés selon des critères acceptables. Un seul test a démontré un résultat positif in vitro, la triforine s'étant révélée clastogène sur des cellules ovariennes de hamster chinois. | |

Dans une étude chez les rats, aucun effet sur la reproduction n'a été noté à la plus forte dose testée. La progéniture ne semble pas avoir démontré de sensibilité accrue comparativement aux parents. Les seuls effets observés sur la reproduction après une exposition à la triforine (baisse du poids des testicules, diminution de la fertilité des mâles F1) l'ont été à une dose excédant la dose limite et ils sont considérés sans conséquence. | |
